Opportunities in Amaravati, an event held in London on 11th March 2016 at One Great George Street, London to invite investment in the Andhra Pradesh state of India.
The event was organised by Government of Andhra Pradesh and supported by the High commission of India, UK India Busines Council & UK Trade and Investment.
Shri Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister Andhra Pradesh made an impressive investment pitch to the UK businesses and provided the opportunities and reasons to invest in Amravati such as:
- State of Andhra Pradesh is ranked Andhra Pradesh 2nd on the World Bank report on Ease of Doing Business in India
- It is also one of the fastest growing State economies in India and has achieved GDP growth of 11% since 2004-05.
and Amravati city is:
• Strategically located close to major cities Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Visakhapatnam.
• Planned as a world-class smart city

To assure the UK-based investor about the corruptions and delays in India, Mr Naidu said, “we would remove human interface between citizens and government and all the jobs can be done online instead of running and meeting government officials”.
This seems a good move as by Mr. Naidu as it is similar to how it is managed in Singapore where corruption is nil and there is no scope for delay.
He added, ” We want to make it clear that we are open for business and we are very receptive and although developing a new city is daunting but where there is a will there is an opportunity”. Our government is transparent, Policy clarity is there and anybody who invest and if they face any problem, I am available 24@7 and I am very happy that Mr Hiduja is also working with us on our vision.
His message seems to be well received by the audience.
Prof. John Holling dale (IUIH) said, “we are building project in India since 2.5 years ago as we were invited by PM Modi to build 11 hospitals and so far we haven’t faced any problem.
Nothing related to corruption or bureaucracy”.
Mr Ajay Rajan Gupta, CEO IUIH, said “we are building 11000-bed hospitals to serve 200 to 300 million patients in India on Govt to Govt project through NHS and we are very happy with the speed in India and CM Naidu presented an impressive pitch”.
Mike Perks Mike Perks, managing director Karl Storz Endoscopy said, “This is my first visit and I am impressed with the UK trade industry and very well organized event as especially CM made clear about his vision and openness to business.
G P Hinduja, Co-Chairman of the Hinduja Group who had also made a substantial investment in the power sector in the state praised Mr. Naidu efforts towards making it a business friendly state and also suggested Mr. Naidu open an office in London.
Last month Department of Industries of the Government of Odisha supported by CII and UK India Busines Council also held an event in London, Opportunities in Odisha.
