Lord Popat hosts Indian spiritual heritage event in London

Indian spiritual heritage event “Awakening” was celebrated on Monday, at Committee Room, House of Lords, UK parliament, London.

The event was organized by Indian origin UK’s Member of Parliament Lord Dolar Popat and Internationally acclaimed Indian spiritual master (author of the autobiography of a Yogi) Paramahansa Yogananda’s London Centre of Self-Realization.

The event was attended by Indian community representatives and peers such as Lord Dolar Popat, Lord Loomba and Lord Suri in addition to SRF’s brother Vishwananda.

The special guest of the event was Dr. Virander Paul, Deputy High Commissioner of India, UK.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr Virander Paul said, “Paramahansa Yogananda successfully spread the message of ancient Indian wisdom (meditation) in the West which is also an excellent exercise for our mind and we are very happy for that achievement”.

The private screening of the film “Awake”-The Life of Yogananda also took place in the House of Lords and the Indian spiritual heritage was appreciated by the audience.

The main message of the Yogananda or theme of the film was one should aim for Self-Realization by awakening or expanding one’s vision, which can be achieved by regular meditation.

Another message from the spiritual life journey of Paramahansa Yogananda was “In our heart we can all learn to be free from hate and selfishness.

Let us pray for harmony among the nations, that they march hand in hand through the gate of a fair new civilization”.

Indian-origin Lord Dolar Popat who organized the event added that “it was fascinating to see the film which was based on real experience. Yoga and meditation are well known Indian cultural heritage techniques which are also promoted by PM, Modi, in recent days and are beneficial for humanity”.

In addition, to the audience, there were many volunteers from Centre of Self Realization helping and answering audience queries.
