Mario Marazziti Awarded Dayawati Modi Award 2024 for philanthropy & humanitarian work
London, UK, 18th October 2024 – The prestigious Dayawati Modi Award for Art, Culture, and Education 2024 has been awarded to the distinguished humanitarian, Mario Marazziti.
The accolade, presented during the Diwali Charity Dinner hosted by the International Institute of Fine Arts (IIFA) Modinagar, India, at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, London, recognizes Mr. Marazziti’s lifelong dedication to humanitarian work and global impact through philanthropy and social justice.
Known for his role as a spokesperson for the Community of Sant’Egidio, a progressive Catholic NGO, Mr. Marazziti has devoted his career to advocating for human rights, notably co-founding the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty in 2002.
His tireless efforts have contributed to various humanitarian causes globally, establishing him as a leading voice for social change.
His commitment to causes such as education, mental well-being, and cross-cultural collaboration has earned him a well-deserved place among previous recipients of the award, including Mother Teresa and His Holiness The Dalai Lama.
The Dayawati Modi Award, one of India’s highest accolades in the field of art, culture, and education, celebrates individuals whose work transcends borders and uplifts the human spirit.
Mr. Marazziti’s extensive work, which includes promoting creative educational opportunities for underprivileged students, exemplifies these values.
The award ceremony took place during an elegant Diwali Charity Event designed to support The Inner Happiness Foundation, a mental health and educational initiative, and to foster artistic growth in underprivileged communities in India through a collaboration between the IIFA and London’s Royal Drawing School.
The evening, which featured a seated dinner curated by a Michelin-star chef, performances by celebrated artists, and an exciting charity auction, attracted international personalities from various fields including Hollywood star Elizabeth Hurley, Arun Nayyar, Shri Satish Modi Chairman of Modi Group, Bafta-nominated Film Producer Kent Walwin, Bruno Cohen Chairman of The Galien Foundation.

Mario Marazziti is a longtime humanitarian leader and advocate for human rights.
A former producer for Italy’s RAI television network, Marazziti served in the Italian parliament, championing issues related to social justice.
He has authored several books and has written for major publications such as Corriere della Sera. Based in Rome, he continues to lead efforts to abolish the death penalty and promote global human rights through his work with Sant’Egidio.
